PSALM 91

God. Abba. Father.

We thank you for being God Most High and God-All-Powerful. We rest in you and in the shelter of your love and grace. You are our refuge, our place of safety, our sanctuary where nothing evil can happen to us. You are the One who protects us and saves us. We trust you, oh King!

Thank you for keeping us safe. We have nothing to fear when we are in your care and in your presence. We don’t need to worry about anything, day or night, night or day. Your promises assure us that even though we may be surrounded by our enemies, and even though others all around us might succumb to the pressures of this world, we will not fall. We will not be shaken. We will see with our own eyes that you, Lord, are good to us. You are our fortress. We thank you that we can run to you, and we will be safe.

We know angels watch over us and attend to us when we are in great need. They guard us and carry us. They surround our homes and walk with us every day. We will not stumble or fall. We will not be attacked by any wild thing. Thank you, God, for the promise that if we hang on to you with all our might, if we love you with our hearts, our voices, and our actions, when we call on you, you will answer us, you will protect us, you will be at our side, you will rescue us. Thank you!

Indeed, you have promised that we will live a long life and that we will see your salvation first-hand. Thank you for these promises, Lord. We trust in your unfailing love and grace. Thank you for being our provider, our protector, our shepherd who guides us. You are our perfect peace.

We thank you for always taking care of us.

We thank you for your grace — offered by you, our heavenly Father, given to us by your Son, Jesus, and sealed in our hearts today by the Holy Spirit.
