Psalm 119–12, Lamed

Staff or Shepherd, verses 89-96

Psalm 119 is broken down into 22 different sections, one for each letter of the Hebrew alphabet. Included in each day’s prayer is a common meaning of the letter, and the verses connected with that section.

God. Abba. Father.

There is nothing of greater import than your word. It is the shepherd’s staff and your voice combined. By your word, you lead. By your word, you created. By your word, we have life. Your word lasts forever. It is our firm foundation. Your truths are always relevant, always dependable, always faithful.

We find great comfort in your word. It is our hope and our peace. It is our delight and our salvation. We will never forget your word.

Day after day, night after night, we reflect on the ancient stories through your word. And they are not just tales and adventures, but wisdom and meaning for life. When our foes seek us out, we can respond in strength and confidence via your word.

You created man and woman and all things in the earth. Each has its limits. Yet your word knows no bounds. When you speak, we are healed. When you speak, we are shown great love and mercy. When you speak, we find life, life, and more life!

Thank you for your grace. Thank you for your word. It is our life.

Through Jesus.

Amen.
